MyKnowledgeMap is excited to announce the rollout of MyProgress to support The University of Essex’s School of Health and Social Care. As a leading institution in health and social care education, the University of Essex offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. These programmes cover various fields, including Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Social Work, and Oral Health, each designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in their chosen professions.
MyProgress: A Modern Solution for Education and Assessment
MyProgress is an innovative ePortfolio and workplace-based assessment tool developed specifically to support education in medicine and healthcare. Its flexibility and adaptability make it suitable for any educational programme, allowing institutions to tailor its features to meet specific needs.
At the University of Essex, the initial phase of implementing MyProgress supports several key programmes: Nursing (BSc, MSc, MSci), Nursing Associates, Nursing Degree Associates, Physiotherapy (BSc and MSc), and Physiotherapy Apprenticeship. Looking ahead, Phase 2 will see the further rollout of MyProgress to Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Social Work, and Oral Health programmes, to go live in September 2024.
Enhancing Student Experience with MyProgress
One of the standout features of MyProgress is its mobile app, which students at the University of Essex’s School of Health and Social Care can install on their devices. This app allows students to have their assessment documentation readily accessible, no matter where they are. The user-friendly interface of MyProgress ensures that students can easily track their progress and see which assessments are yet to be completed.
Moreover, the mobile app's offline functionality is particularly beneficial for students working in challenging environments where internet connectivity may be limited. This feature ensures that their work and assessments continue uninterrupted, providing a seamless experience with automatic sync when internet connection is available again.
The intuitive design allows busy clinicians to leave feedback quickly at the bedside, using the app's speech-to-text functionality for ease.
Empowering Educators and Improving Outcomes
MyProgress enables academics and practice staff to evaluate and monitor a student's progress through feedback and assessments over a period of time. These assessments collectively provide a comprehensive evaluation of a student's clinical performance, enabling educators to track development and address any areas of concern. MyProgress can support any workplace-based assessment and includes the ability to author your own forms.
The MyProgress dashboard provides engagement insights at programme level, offering practice educators and faculty staff immediate visibility into trainee progress and unlocks actionable insights. This visibility is crucial for identifying students who may be struggling and allows for tailored training and support to be provided, ultimately reducing attrition rates and improving educational outcomes.
A Global Impact
MyKnowledgeMap’s MyProgress ePortfolio and assessment solution has made a significant impact on healthcare education, now used by 50% of UK Nursing students. Its adoption is also growing internationally, with increasing numbers of institutions in Australia, Singapore, the USA, and Europe incorporating MyProgress into their programmes.
The success of MyProgress in various educational settings underscores its versatility and effectiveness as a tool for enhancing healthcare education. Its ability to support a wide range of workplace-based assessments and customizable forms makes it an invaluable resource for both students and educators.
